A poignant and empowering teen novel of grief, unrequited love, and finding comfort in one's own skin.Aden isn't looking for love in her senior year. She's much more focused on things like getting a solo gig at Ike's and keeping her brother from illegal herbal recreation. But when Tate walks into Calculus class wearing a yarmulke and a grin, Aden's heart is gone in an instant. The two are swept up in a tantalizingly warm friendship, complete with long drives with epic soundtracks and deep talks about life, love, and spirituality. With Tate, Aden feels closer to her mom—and her mom's faith—than she has since her mother died years ago. Everyone else—even Aden's brother and her best friend—can see their connection, but does Tate?Navigating uncertain romance and the crises of those she loves, Aden must decide how she chooses to see herself and how to honor her mom’s memory.

STAY AWAY FROM CALCULUS, IT'S NOTHING BUT TROUBLE!! It's not too often that I'm left speechless(ask anyone I know!) but The Calculus of Change left me utterly speechless. I read this book in one sitting. Once I started, I just simply could not stop, nor did I want to. I was completely engrossed in the complicated life of Aden.

The Calculus of Change tackles some pretty tough things: The death of a parent, drugs, sexual assault, and more. Yet, between all of that is a charming layer of young love, a relationship between 2 best friends, a bond between brother and sister and a journey of growth and self discovery.

I am absolutely stunned that The Calculus of Change is Jessica Hilbs debut novel. She writes like a seasoned author. She crafted such a beautiful story and penned such a vibrant character cast. Her delivery was just right! Giving you little tidbits at a time while weaving the story together at a beautiful pace.

The Calculus of Change packs a lot of punch within it's 336 page package.  I laughed, I cried and fumed with anger. It gave me all the feels. I adored every single moment while reading this novel. It's a beautiful and, at times, sad tale about a girl growing up without a mother during a time when she needs her mother most. It's a story where you will watch a character grow right in front of your very eyes. The Calculus of Change is a beautiful gem!

"That's what this feels like. It feels like crumbling. Like going from stone to sand"- Aden

Years ago, in the town of Saxon Falls, young Kelsey Willard disappeared and was presumed dead. The tragedy left her family with a fractured life—a mother out to numb the pain, a father losing a battle with his own private demons, and a sister desperate for closure. But now another teenage girl has gone missing. It’s ripping open old wounds for the Willards, dragging them back into a painful past, and leaving them unprepared for where it will take them next.
Bureau of Criminal Investigation agent Mark Foster has stumbled on uncanny parallels in the lives of the two missing girls that could unlock clues to a serial killer’s identity. That means breaking down the walls of the Willards’ long-guarded secrets and getting to a truth that is darker than he bargained for. Now, to rescue one missing girl, he must first solve the riddles that disappeared with another: Kelsey Willard herself. Dead or alive, she is his last hope.

Pretty Girls Dancing was one of the most compelling thrillers I have ever read. I was completely enthralled from beginning to end. Though it may only come in a 370-page package, this book packs so much. It is a haunting representation of the dark and ugly things that happen in the world. The ripple effect of a tragedy that threads and weaves its way forever into the lives of its victims.

Author, Kylie Brant, will capture your attention from the very first page and will keep you in her grasp until the very end. She crafted a heartbreaking tale that is told from the perspectives of various different characters. Each character is struggling with their own skeletons and heartache. I loved the subplots of their own stories interwoven with the main storyline. It really made it a dynamic read! The author also delivered the story in such a way where each character breakaway ended with a little bit of a cliffhanger. Leaving you craving for more. I don't think I've ever enjoyed every character in a book like I did in the Pretty Girls Dancing. I truly loved what each character had to offer!

Pretty Girls Dancing is an enthralling reading experience that will keep you engrossed the whole way through. You will be taken down a dark road that will keep you guessing until the very last minute!

“No one got out of a personal tragedy unscathed. The wounds didn’t go away. It was just a matter of how well each person covered them.”
