Help! I Am in a Reading Slump!

HELP!

Have you ever  suffered from a reading slump? I fall into one about every 6 months or so. It's not that I am not interested in reading; In fact, it is the complete opposite! I pick up my book with the intention to kick back and escape for a while only I. Can't. Concentrate!

I'll read the same sentence over and over again, my mind will wander, etc. It is driving me crazy! I miss reading, but I just can't get focused!

Any tips and tricks you can share? How do you get yourself out of this dreadful reading funk?

  1. -Re-reading an old favorite! Just the idea I'm going to read something I know I will love it is awesome.

  2. You are not alone! I'm in a reading slump right now too. What usually helps me is taking a break from reading, it can be short or long depending on how much time you need. If that doesn't help try picking up a book you love, or start a new book you've been excited to read. Maybe you'll have to force youself in the beginning but if it's good book you'll quickly be caught up in it. This has helped me get out of reading slumps in the past. Hope it helps a little :)

  4. Just like the others...I reread an old favorite. Sometimes I will try a book that is hyped up to see if I like it or I'll pick up what I call a "mind candy" book. Something that is light, fluffy but doesn't have a ton of content.

  5. Can you just take a break for awhile? That's what I would do.

  6. The only way I get out of them is to find a book that I just know I'm going to love. That sort of pulls me in, I devour it and I instantly want to move onto more. I'm in a bit of a slump too due to starting a new job, it's not fun. Hope you get out of your slump soon!

  7. I'm reading, but I just can't find the motivation to write reviews. I know... it's not the same.

  8. I re-read an old favorite! It's the easiest way to jump back in. I can skim and still know what's going on, and be assured that by the last page I'm reading like a champ!
