Books the Second Time Around is a new monthly feature at The Crazy Bookworm. I am a re-reader! I love taking that much loved book and revisiting characters like they are old friends. Or getting that heart pounding rush from a riveting storyline. Books the Second Time Around will discuss the experience I got re-reading a book the second(or third or fourth..) time around!
You would think after reading a book for the second time that some of that thrill would be gone. Moments that were once unexpected are now known and unsurprising...That couldn't be further from the truth!
Yes, I did know the overall outcome and there were some scenes that I knew were approaching, that only made me even more excited. I couldn't wait for Miss Peregrine to be introduced because she had such an impact on my reading experience the first time around. Meeting her again was the exact same experience. A smile lit up my face!
I had forgotten how well done the character development was. I loved(all over again!) how the characters were introduced. You really can't pick a favourite. You fall in love with each and every unique one.
The vivid world building came to life just as vibrantly as before. I had forgotten how stunning it was! Ransom Riggs definitely penned a stunning atmosphere!
Those eerie photos still provided those spine chilling moments. Even those I now know the characters that are behind them, it still provides a big spook factor!
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children definitely gave me a thrilling experience the second time around, but with an added bonus. I knew this was going to be one I would want to revisit from time to time, and giving it a re-read only intensified that feeling. I can't wait to devour this one all over again in the future!
