RUA Cover Reveal!

Rua by Miranda Kavi

Expected Pub: September 3, 2012
A girl with an unknown destiny.

A boy from a hidden world.

When Celeste starts at a new school in a small, Kansas town, she hears whispering voices, has vivid nightmares, and swarms of blackbirds follow her every move. She is oddly drawn to aloof Rylan, the other new student who has his own secrets.

The exact moment she turns seventeen, she wakes to a bedroom full of strange creatures, purple light emanating from her hands, and Rylan breaking in through her bedroom window.

He knows what she is . . .

Intriguing and deeply romantic, RUA is page-turning YA novel with a supernatural twist.

Miranda Kavi is a YA and Urban Fantasy author. She has worked as an attorney, an executive recruiter, and an assistant in a biological anthropology lab. She loves scary movies, museums, and is hopelessly addicted to chocolate. She lives in the Houston area with her husband and daughter.

Top 5 Books I want sequels to!

Have you ever read that one novel that you just adored so much you wanted more? You're still left thinking about those characters and where they are now? I know you've answered yes to both of these questions. So here are the top 5 books I want a sequel to.

The Pact

I absolutely loved this heart-breaking, page turning novel. It had me going through a whole box of Kleenex but it was so worth it! I would love to know where these characters are today!

The Help

I don't think this one needs an explanation, but I would love to read about these characters, say 20 years later. That would be delightful!

Revolution

I would love to read about Andi and where she is today. I adored her!

Bitter End

I'm always curious to know, if given a chance, how a character would transform their hardships in the future. Would they speak out about it or stay silent and just move on?

Number 1 is a toss up between 2. I know, I know, but I couldn't decide! At least they are both by the same author!

Playing HurtA Blue So Dark

Playing Hurt and A Blue so Dark by Holly Schindler

If you've either of these novels by Holly Schindler, you would know why I can't pick just one! She is such an incredible author with a beautiful writing style. Her characters are lyrical and diverse. You just fall in love with them! I would love to know where any of the characters from these books are today!

What book would you like to read a sequel to?

Q: Christmas in July! Someone gives you a gift card for two books (whatever that costs). What two books will you buy?
I would definitely buy This is Not a Test by Courtney Summers and Insurgent by Veronica Roth. Those have both been on my 'To Read' wishlist since they hit the shelves!

Each night at precisely 4:33 am, while sixteen-year-old London Lane is asleep, her memory of that day is erased. In the morning, all she can "remember" are events from her future. London is used to relying on reminder notes and a trusted friend to get through the day, but things get complicated when a new boy at school enters the picture. Luke Henry is not someone you'd easily forget, yet try as she might, London can't find him in her memories of things to come.

When London starts experiencing disturbing flashbacks, or flash-forwards, as the case may be, she realizes it's time to learn about the past she keeps forgetting-before it destroys her future.

“For me, reading is remembering.”- London Lane

Forgotten was one book that has been on my 'To Read' list since it's hard cover release 2011. When I received the Paperback copy for review, I couldn't wait to dive into it!

What an intense, yet simply written story Cat Patrick created. It's so hard to come across a "memory loss" novel that isn't confusing. I have read a fair share that require a lot of flipping back and forth to understand what's going on. That was not the case with Forgotten. The author tackled the premise of Memory Loss so perfectly. Not one moment was I left confused or back-tracking.

The characters were constructed with typical teenager traits yet they were so bold. I absolutely adored London and Luke!

The novel also offers up a full serving of suspense and mystery! Just when you think you know, you are hit with a twist or turn. It was a thrilling reading experience!

I loved every minute of Forgotten! It was exactly what I was expecting but so much more. Cat Patrick packed a lot of punch in the story line but didn't forget the development of the characters. It was a perfect balance!

My Bookshelf Tour

I love seeing other people's bookshelves. Whether they are organized neatly, or piled on a shelf chaotically, I love it! Here is my bookshelf tour:

My 2 main bookshelves are in my living room, surrounding my fireplace.

Right Side

Left Side

And this is my little book nook in my bedroom.

My books are not organized in any particular order. I guess you could say I have my own system, but I couldn't explain it if I tried!

A video tour to come next time!

Q: What drove you to start book blogging in the first place?

I wasn't working at the time and was doing a lot of reading. Then one night my fiance and I were watching Julie and Julia and I was inspired by her food blog. While she was sharing her love for food and cooking her way through Julia Child Cookbooks, I thought "Why not share my love for reading on a book blog? So that night, I signed up! I had no idea about free books, I didn't even know what ARC's were before I started blogging. I simply did it to talk about books!

Quotes That Make You Swoon: What are some of the most swoon-worthy quotes you've experienced in a book?

quotes Cathy/The Crazy Bookworm likes

"I am nothing special, of this I am sure. I am a common man with common thoughts and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me, this has always been enough.."— Nicholas Sparks

Who would you invite to dinner? Top 5 characters I want to meet!

Have you ever come across a character that you would love to meet? You want to pick their brain and have an in-depth conversation with them? Duh! Of course you have!
One of the joys of reading is discovering these fantastic characters, being able to call them friends. Having such strong emotion for a fictional being. We've all felt it. We've laughed and cried over these characters. If I could have one dinner to sit down with 5 of my favourite characters, who would they be and what would I ask them?

#5: Lina from Between Shades of Gray

I would ask Lina how she found even the tiniest shred of beauty and happiness in such an ugly, tragic time. Lina was such a powerful character, that I still think about her. I don't think her story will ever leave me.

#4 Alex from Revolution

I would ask her why she decided to leave her journal behind and share her story. Did she know someday someone like Andi would find it? Did she know her diary would find the right person to put the pieces together?

#3 Kendra from Scars

I would ask Kendra how the art made her feel? When she was scared and misunderstood, I would want to know the feeling she had when she created something beautiful.

#2 Pierce from Abandon

I would LOVE to sit down with Pierce and talk about the underworld. Yes, it may be scary but oh, so fascinating!

#1The entire cast from The Help!

I know, I am kinda cheating with #1 but I couldn't narrow it down to one character! I would love to sit down with this entire character cast and hear every story they had to tell. I want to laugh and cry with them. All of these women were so powerful, it was a pleasure reading about them!

Great books come along every day. Old ones, new ones, it is nearly impossible to narrow your choices down, so this won't be my first character dinner party!
