Book Blogger Confessions

The name says it all, Book Blogger Confessions. We all have our vices, and when I come across other confession posts I always am left saying "I thought I was the only one!"

This will be a weekly(sporadic) post for me where I post my confessions, a rant, a what grinds my gears segment... anything! This space is going to be used to get it off my chest! Feel free to do up your own post, and if you want to share it, just link in the comments!

When a Series Comes to an End

You've fallen in love..with fictional characters. You have been by their side for 3, 4 or more books. You have cried with them, laughed with them, battled with them and more. They are your friends! You've had a long relationship with them. YEAR'S even! You finish one book than have to wait a year or so to be re-visted by them with a new adventure.  Then that's it, the author rips the carpet out from under you, announcing that that last book will be the very end.

There will be no more Edward and Bella, Harry Potter and Hogwarts, Katniss and Peeta, the list goes on.

So, you anxiously await the release of that last book. It's bittersweet. You can't wait to devour it and be with your fictional BFF's but knowing that this will be your final goodbye. You shall share no more late nights together, and trips to faraway lands.

No matter how that last book comes to a close, you are sad. You may be happy for the characters(or in some cases, extremely sad, mad, furious) but that's it. There is now an empty space inside you. And there is no way to fix it...Well, ice cream helps!

And then you repeat this whole process with another series. Sheesh! Why do we torture ourselves?! The woes of a bookworm!

Where is Midnight Sun, Mrs. Stephenie Meyers..Where?!

How do you feel when your favourite series comes to an end?

Share with the world:

  1. I can't think of a series that I've become addicted to. Although there have been times when I've been upset that an author has died and there will be no more books.

  2. This is the worst feeling! You get so invested in the story and characters only to have it taken away. It's the definition of heart breaking. Although the journey is so much fun! So of course we have to repeat the process.

  3. I think the saddest book series break up for me prior to Harry Potter was the Final Friends series by Christopher Pike- I was so into that series that I swear I went to high school with them. As for Harry Potter, I really miss the world. I don't need to keep following Harry and crew, but dang, I miss Hogwarts!!

And seriously, Ms. Meyer, just give us Midnight Sun already!!!
