Interview with a Blogger: Book Soulmates

Book ♥ Soulmates

Please welcome Isalys & Vanessa from Book Soulmates

Isalys and Vanessa, Can you each share 3 random things about yourself?

Isalys: I am addicted to hand lotion and lip gloss, I'm obsessed with all things English and I am a total sucker for animated movies and anything by Tim Burton.
Vanessa: I absolutely LOVE squeezed lemon with salt, I eat sunflower seeds all the time and I collect notebooks!

What inspired you to start a book blog together?
It all kind of happened almost by accident. When we first met, we bonded instantly and then we found out we both love to read and it was like "BAM! We found our book soulmate!" Isalys was friends with Nely from All About {n} and one day while hanging out at B&N, we all ran into each other. Nely told us about this cool thing she does called blogging and how she gets to read all kinds of awesome books! It was like lightning struck. We grabbed "Blogging for Dummies" (literally) and next thing we know, Book ♥ Soulmates was born!

How has the blogging experience been for the both of you?
Isalys: It has definitely been a labor of love! We went into thinking that it would be all fun and even though that's true, it's also been a lot of work.
Vanessa: I definitely agree :) It's a lot of responsibility but we do it because we love it!

If you could only take 3 books from your bookshelf, which 3 would each of you chose?
Isalys: Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen, Nine Rules to Break When Romancing A Rake by Sarah MacLean, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. (BTW, I broke a sweat trying to answer this question, lol)
Vanessa: Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen, Harry Potter (one of the last ones), and Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

You could bring one book character to life for one day? Who would you each pick and why?
Isalys: This is probably totally inappropriate but I'd say Gideon from Lords of the Underworld because he has tats, piercings and electric blue hair...numero uno fantasy man!
Vanessa: Elizabeth Bennett because she just kicks ass :)

What is your favourite part of book blogging?
Isalys: The people! I've been blown away by the kindness, generosity, and all around awesomeness by the people in this community!
Vanessa: Meeting new bloggy friends and going to author events :)

What is your least favourite part?
Isalys: Having to come up with new ideas to keep the blog fresh. In a community of hundreds of blogs, it's not easy coming up with ideas that haven't already been thought of.
Vanessa: Writing reviews. I always have a hard time figuring out what to say without spoilers, lol.

What inspired you two to start your amazing feature: Random Acts of Kindness?
We wanted to bring readers and bloggers together and inspire them to pass along some kindness to one another. After all, we 'readers' have to stick together :P

We are only in month 4 of 2012. Do either of you have any reading goals you'd like to accomplish this year?
Isalys: I would like to read at least 80 to 90 books and throw in some more zombie fiction.
Vanessa: I know it may not sound like much, but I'd like to read at least 30 books this year (if not more!)

What advice would you give new book bloggers?
Network, network, network! Visit others blogs and leave comments and sign with your name and blog. Plan your posts and ideas ahead of time because they have a nasty way of sneaking up on you. Also, calendars will be your new best friend :)

Crazy Quiz x2!

  3. Love this interview! These ladies are seriously so much fun!! I have to admit I am jealous of their blogging together! I am a solo act and I think it would be fabulous to have someone to share it with.
