Q: Go count the number of unread books sitting on your shelf. How many?
A: Actually sitting on my shelves: 76. Ones that I have packed away because I lack room at the moment: Unknown.
Too many books, not enough time!
Q: What are some of your reading goals for the new year?
A: Great question! I did a blog post on Blogging Goals. I never really thought about reading goals.
Ginger's goals seem to be quite close to mine! So I'll follow in the same order she did.
- My Goodreads goal in 2011 was 150(Only reached 123). So this year I made it 100. I still think that is a stretch for me, as I can get quite busy with work. But I am really going to try and fit in more reading time!
- Definitely reading "older" books as well. I love and appreciate all the ARC's I receive. And I do enjoy buying the latest release that everyone is chatting about. But I still have almost a whole bookshelf dedicated to those "older" books, that I am dying to read!
- I would like to read a few more literary classics. Like Jane Austen, Salinger and Louise Alcott. I would love to experience those books for myself!
- Not follow the trends. Although I love reading the latest book that everyone is talking about, there have been times that I've read them and haven't enjoyed them myself. I would like to put more decision in the books I read, rather than just read them because everyone else liked it.
What are your reading goals? Leave your link in the comments so I can hop back!
Happy Hopping!
Too many books, not enough time! I COMPLETELY agree! It never ends :D Kristin from GrowingUpYA.blogspot.com (new follower)
ReplyDeleteAwesome goals! I'm not setting a goal for the number of books this year either and I wouldn't mind reading more older books.

ReplyDeleteI believe it is completely unfair that people expect me to maintain a semblance of normalcy and respectability when I just want to read!
Dropping in from amidnightsummersread.blogspot.com And I hope you make your goal this year!
ReplyDeleteI was actually talking about books being released and being "trendy" at a certain point with a friend - it makes it hard for me to really want to read them. I find that I get overwhelmed with information and reviews. For me, I read them way before release or a little after so that there's not too much attention to distract me.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I'm a new follower :)
ReplyDeleteHere's my post: http://bookworm-teen.blogspot.com/2012/01/follow-friday-1.html
I have about the same amount of books on this side of the shelf. (I didn't dare counting the others after I reached the 75..)
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the last goal! Completely agree with it!

Hopping through. I have about the same number, along with books packed away from my last move. I need to read more.
