Dear Bully: Blogger Edition Wrap Up

Dear Bully: Blogger Edition was something I started back in June when I first learned about the novel Dear Bully(In Stores Now), an anthology by 70 Young Adult authors who share their personal experiences with bullying. As someone who was bullied as a child, and had to deal with a lot of cruel rumours in high school, I was thrilled when I heard about a book like this hitting shelves. Over the course of the last month and a half, I've had authors, readers and bloggers sharing their own stories about bullying, here at The Crazy Bookworm. I want to take this moment to thank everyone who took the time to share their stories. I know how hard it is to relive those moments of humiliation. Thank you for being so strong and honest. By speaking up yourself, you are helping others. I also want to thank the readers and the commenter's. Learning more about bullying will help the way people deal with those situations. Perhaps you were a bystander before, but maybe now after reading those story's you will step forward.

Dear Bully is a novel that needs to be on the shelves of every school library, and in every classroom. I hope it makes it's way to the hands of the bullied and the bullies.

My Message to the Bullied
Please don't give up. Please don't let anyone make you question your self worth. I know it may not seem like it now, but it won't last forever. You will move on from this.  Speak out, be loud. Don't be afraid to let someone know about the situation you are dealing with. Talk to anyone who will listen.

My Message to the Bullies
Please stop doing this. I know you may be hurting inside, or you may be suffering from your own insecurities or problems, but it is no excuse to lash out against someone else. You are damaging a person by doing this. You are causing harm, and things could get very bad. Bullying someone will never benefit you in the end. You will lose. When people look back to that time, you will be seen in a negative way. That may not seem like a big deal to you now, but you will care eventually. When your 40 years old walking down the street, and you bump into that person that you taunted everyday, they will remember. We don't ever forget our bully. Please stop.
