Lexi is cursed with a dark secret. Each day she goes to school like a normal teenager, and each night she must swim, or the pain will be unbearable. She is a siren - a deadly mermaid destined to lure men to their watery deaths. After a terrible tragedy, Lexi shut herself off from the world, vowing to protect the ones she loves. But she soon finds herself caught between a new boy at school who may have the power to melt her icy exterior, and a handsome water spirit who says he can break Lexi's curse if she gives up everything else. Lexi is faced with the hardest decision she's ever had to make: the life she's always longed for - or the love she can't live without?

When I first came across the cover of Ripple, I fell in love right away. It wasn't the cover models that did it for me, it was the haunting colours and background images. The midnight blues and teals. The angry clouds up above and the calm water behind...Beautiful!

We are introduced to Lexi who has a haunting past and a dark secret. She completely shuts herself out from the world and doesn't allow anyone to get close to her...That is until Cole steps into her life and turns her world upside down. I was immediately drawn to Lexi. I found her character very intriguing. Her story made for a compelling read. Learning more about her history and her future had me completely fascinated. Cole was a MAJOR swoon-worthy character. I absolutely loved the way the author introduced him into the novel. The relationship she created between Lexi and Cole was very realistic and a pleasure to read.

The writing style was simplistic but elegant. The author didn't fill the novel with unnecessary details. She simply delivered the story of the characters, and everything unfolded beautifully.

Ripple turned out to be way more than what I expected it to be. I thought it was going to be a light read, and then when done, move onto the next book. But I am left still thinking about it and wanting more! I want to learn more about Lexi, Sirens and Nixes. Mandy Hubbard created such an engrossing novel, and delivered the theme beautifully. For readers that are apprehensive about the Sirens/Mermaids theme, pick up Ripple and give it a try. And for readers who are already fans, Ripple is a must!
