My interview with the author: Lisa Schroeder

Amber’s life is spinning out of control. All she wants is to turn up the volume on her iPod until all of the demands of family and friends fade away. So she sneaks off to the beach to spend a day by herself. Then Amber meets Cade. Their attraction is instant, and Amber can tell he’s also looking for an escape. Together they decide to share a perfect day: no pasts, no fears, no regrets.
The more time that Amber spends with Cade, the more she’s drawn to him. And the more she’s troubled by his darkness. Because Cade’s not just living in the now—he’s living each moment like it’s his last.

"There is something comforting about a lighthouse. In the dark of the night, hold on to the light, and you’ll get back home safely. I need a personal lighthouse."

As much as I hate to admit this, The Day Before is my first book by Lisa Schroeder. But I can happily say that it won't be my last!

Known for her unique, verse writing style, Lisa had me hooked by the very first page. I devoured The Day Before, easily finishing it in one sitting. The words came to life right off the pages, allowing the story to unfold beautifully around me. Once I completed the novel, I had to fight the urge to start from the very beginning again. I simply didn't want this book to end.

The author penned a small but powerful character cast. Amber and Cade's immediate attraction radiated off the pages. They shared a connection almost instantly. I liked Amber from the very beginning, but once her story began to unfold, I started understanding who she really was, and why she was doing the things she did. I bonded with her even more after that.

While reading The Day Before, a lot of questions stirred up. I found myself pondering more than once "What would I do?". How would I handle the situation that Amber was in. Or even the situation that every character was going through; Cade's, Jeanie and Allen's and Amber's family. The issue's are tough ones, but Lisa Schroeder delivered them so well.

I don't know why I had waited so long to pick up one of Lisa's books but I definitely won't make that mistake again. I can't wait to dig in to her previous and future books.

The Day Before was a beautifully crafted, elegantly told story with stunning character. A must read!
