It's been three years since the devastating accident ... three years since Mia walked out of Adam's life forever.

Now living on opposite coasts, Mia is Julliard's rising star and Adam is LA tabloid fodder, thanks to his new rock star status and celebrity girlfriend. When Adam gets stuck in New York by himself, chance brings the couple together again, for one last night. As they explore the city that has become Mia's home, Adam and Mia revisit the past and open their hearts to the future - and each other.

"I battle with invisible waves and imaginary vortexes and demons that are all too real and of my own making, I actually feel something in my chest open, a feeling so intense, it’s like my heart’s about to burst. And I just let it. I just let it out. " Adam Wilde

Where She Went was a 2011 book that I was much anticipating. I absolutely loved If I Stay, the wait for this book nearly drove me crazy. I was dying to know what was in store for the characters since If I Stay.

Where She Went did not disappoint. It was everything I thought it was going to be but so much more. I loved that the book was in Adam's point of view. He is a very bold, passionate character and those qualities radiate off the pages. You are lost inside the pages of the book, it draws you in so much, it is nearly impossible to stop reading. Where she Went was so powerful that it was as if Adam was sitting right there beside me, sharing his story with me. You could hear his voice, could hear his anger, fear and confusion. This is one of those books that go beyond just being a "book". If I Stay and Where she Went are those rare gems that sneak into your heart and stay there forever. The characters are so strong and full of life that they become friends of yours. Their outcome is just as important to you as it is to them.

It is not often that a sequel can outshine it's original, but in my opinion this was one of those times. If I Stay was heartbreaking but beautiful, it was such a uniquely told story. But Where She Went dealt with the pain and grief that lingers in the aftermath of such a traumatic event.

The writing style and the flow of the story is flawless. The character development was even stronger than the last. Giving us a real look inside. A real view of who Mia and Adam really are. Where She Went  is an emotional ride. Gayle Forman does not sugarcoat a moment, which plays a major part in the beauty of this novel. A book that takes you through a journey of Love, loss, self-growth and acceptance. Gayle Forman penned a winning sequel.

What I loved: It's raw emotion. The lyric/musical touches. The incredible characters and flawless writing
What I disliked: Absolutely nothing. Except for the fact that the book ended. It was a perfect length but I think I could read about Adam and Mia forever.

  1. Your review is so lovely! Now I want to read the book even more then I did before. I love when sequels build upon a story and make everythig better. Definitely cannot wait to read this. :)

  3. I just finished If I Stay and I loved it. I wasn't sure if I actually wanted to read Where She Went because usually the follow up is not as good as the original so I'm happy to hear that you loved it even more! Looks like everything on my TBR list is going to be moving down a notch because I don't know if I will be able to wait for this one!
