Interview with a Blogger-The Book Scoop

This week please welcome Rowena from The Book Scoop!

CB: How long have you been blogging?

The Book Scoop is my first foray into the world of Young Adult book blogging. That blog has only been open for about nine months now. I have been blogging for many years though. I started with my friend team book blogging adventure, Sanctuary’s Finest (http://sanctuarysbookblog.blogspot.com) back in 2005 and branched out from there and started Book Binge (http://thebookbinge.com) with my friends Holly and Isabel then Casee later joined us and we’ve been blogging together ever since. So officially, I’ve been book blogging for about 6 years now.

CB: What inspired you to start a book blog?

Book blogging came together for me as a way to keep up with what my friends were reading. We used to flood each other’s inboxes with emails about books and all sorts of other stuff but decided to start up a blog once my friend Isabel brought it to our attention. We first started Sanctuary’s Finest as a way to keep up with each other’s books and discuss our favorite bookish themes and then opened up Book Binge. We’ve been book blogging ever since.

CB: Tell us 5 things about yourself.

 Hmm, this should be interesting.

-I’m #8 of 9 children.
-I’m a die hard Laker fan.
-I’m Team Damon on Vampire Diaries (the show).
-I watch Victorious with my daughter.
-I used to want to marry Justin Timberlake back in the day.

CB: If you could have dinner with any book character in history, who would it be and why?

Peeta. I’d want to bake cakes with him after we eat dinner and I’d like to pick his brain about just how it felt being in the Hunger Games and then I’d probably try to steal him away from Katniss. =P

CB: Finish this sentence "I can't live without..."

 This one is easy, books.

CB: Who is your favourite book hero and book villian?

It’s hard to pick just one favorite book hero because depending on the day and the way the wind is blowing, it’s always different. Right at this moment, my favorite hero is Wes Baker from Sarah Dessen’s The Truth about Forever and my favorite book villain was Sabine from the Soul Screamers series and even though she’s not this evil villain, she’s a villain to me because she’s trying her darndest to break up Nash and Kaylee and even though I should hate her…I don’t. But I’m always annoyed with her.

CB: Where is your favourite reading place?

My favorite reading place would be on my bed. It’s so comfortable to lay on my side and read whatever book that I’m reading and my bed is super comfy, I love that place.

CB: What is one book you would like to see come to the big screen?

If I Stay by Gayle Foreman and 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher. Both books were so good and I’d love to see it come to life on the big screen.

CB: What is one guilty pleasure that you have?

One guilty pleasure? I have many but one of them is my addiction to Jersey Shore. I can’t help it, I have to tune into all of the drama every week because they’re a guilty pleasure of mine.

CB: Any tips or words of advice for new book bloggers?

Make sure you’re blogging for the right reasons and keep at it. Blogging is a lot of work but it’s a lot of fun work so if you’ve got something to say than start that blog and don’t hesitate to ask for help. There is a wonderful community of book bloggers that would love to help new bloggers out so don’t be afraid to approach them. Also, blog about things that make you happy and things you’re excited about. If you’re excited about your blog then others will be excited too. =)

CB: What are you reading now?

I just finished reading Other Words for Love by Lorraine Zago Rosenthal and now I’m reading The Crepe Makers Bond by Julie Crabtree.

Crazy Quiz

My favorite series was The Babysitter’s Club. Too many favorites to choose from though.

Ahhh, I don’t know. Love, Actually?

Witches or Wizards?

Witches.

Twilight or Harry Potter?

Twilight, only because I’ve never read the HP books.

One super power you would like to have?

I’d love to be able to teleport. How cool would that be?
