When novelist Sienna Emory receives a desperate call from an old college friend, she feels compelled to try and help her. The Cheney she remembers was a free-spirited song writer with an amazing ability to translate all of life's pain and joy into her work, but drugs and alcohol have made her a shell of her former self.
When Sienna arrives at Cheney's house, she finds Cheney passed out in the driveway; what she doesn't expect to find is Jonathan Driscoll, a handsome single father living nearby, who has obviously been there before.

Never able to have children of her own, Sienna is delighted to get to know Jonathan and his daughter Bella. However, Bella is not a typical five-year-old girl. She tells stories that she couldn't possibly know, and when she prays, she seems to communicate on a direct line to God.

As Sienna and Jonathan's love grows, while dealing with their friend Cheney's issues, Sienna discovers more about God's plans for them. Will their faith be strong enough to protect them against evil?

I couldn't wait to read Bella Maura once I first read the synopsis for it, then when I finally cracked it open and read the first page I was immediately drawn in. The book starts off intense from the very beginning with a heavy scene involving Sienna's friend Cheney and the books intensity continues throughout. Dawn Dyson delivers a heart-warming tale and a powerful character cast that deal with heart-wrenching issues like abuse and drug addictions. The author wrote honestly, never sugarcoating the pain and difficulty the character felt while dealing with the hardships of everyday life. There were moments when I was laughing out loud and there were times that I was reaching for the box of Kleenex. Almost every character in this book is dealing with something, but throughout it all the author reveals the power that god can have.

In the middle of all this is a beautiful love story. A love story between a man and a women and a love between god and people. Bella Maura is a lovely book with a powerful message. This will be a book that I re-read, not just to visit the characters that I fell in love with but to read the beauty in the story again.

Bella Maura is book one in the Beautiful Justice series, I can't wait to get my hands on book two!
