Paranormal Activity 2 Review

Directed by: Tod Williams

Running Time: 91 Minutes

My Rating: Photobucket

About the movie: After experiencing what they think are a series of "break-ins", a family sets up security cameras around their home, only to realize that the events unfolding before them are more sinister than they seem.(IMDB)

My Thoughts: Being a fan of the first Paranormal Activity I was really looking forward to seeing this one. This movie didn't disappoint when it came to the cheap thrills and jumps but it took a little while to get to that. Like the first, this one concentrated a lot on character development but there was a good 30 minutes or so of no action what so ever, just mindless conversation. I liked how they tied in the storyline from the first one into this one, instead of being a sequel it is a prequel. You learn a little more back story of the history between this 'Demon' that haunted Katie as a child and then continues to haunt her and her family. It is a slow-paced film but that parts that are supposed to scare, really did their job! I jumped a lot throughout the movie and may have cursed once or twice. What made this movie scary(for me) was the draw out, we all know something is going to happen when all is quiet and still but we don't know when or where its going to happen and then when you begin to relax just a little, BANG it happens! This was a nail biting, sit on the edge of your seat kind of movie, and all though there were some parts that could have been done without, I enjoyed it. It gave me the cheap thrill I was looking for.

  1. I liked the first movie & it sounds like the second uses the same formula. The ending of the first made it almost impossible to sleep that night :D

  2. Nice review! Probably going to go see it this weekend!

  3. I couldn't get myself to even watch the first one not because it looked scary but because it looked cheesy. Everyone I know said it was boring and stupid so I have just not watched it so when the second one came out I just sort of rolled my eyes at the Glad you liked them though.

  4. Ladystorm- Whats wrong with a little cheese? ;)...Sometimes the cheesy movies are the best ones lol. I had a lot of people tell me that they hated the first one too but I always have to judge a movie for myself. Almost all my friends hated 'The Blair Witch Project' but it scared the bejeebes outta me lol.

  5. I saw this sunday night with some friends. I must say I'm not the one to scream and get scared to easily, but like you said during certain parts it had the whole theatre jump and scream it was awesome and of course the 2 girls I went with screamed alot and held on to each other. it did go kinda slow at the beginning. I was about ready to go to sleep.
