The Study Train Vol.1: The Reunion of the Untouchables by Kurt Frenier

Reading Level: Young Adult Publisher: Eloquent Books Published: July 12, 2010 ISBN-13: 978-1609118846 About The Book: 500 years ago Master Magician Mikhail Pilkington III created something amazing, he created a magical flying train. The purpose of this train is to take average teenagers on board, show them the beauty of the world and teach them enough to become something great in their life...leaders. Ethan is an average teenage boy but is brought up in a broken home. One day after another fight with his father, Ethan is in his room blowing off steam, when he notices something floating towards his window...an envelope. An invitation to aboard the Study Train. While on the train Ethan experiences things he never did back home, friends, family and magical powers. While on the train Ethan's abilities get more powerful, and the "Dark Fire" inside him grows stronger and stronger and Ethan finds himself in a whirlwind of events. He is given a very tempting offer by Krixit, an "untouchable" that was once a student on the "Study Train", Krixit succumbed to his dark side, and wants Ethan for his great powers. Will Ethan go to the "Untouchables", or will he use his powers for good? My Thoughts: Magical, Whimsical, Adventurous. That's how I would describe "The Study Train". Be warned that once you start it you won't be able to put it down until you finish it. I loved this book, it was packed with so much. A unique storyline, action, magic. What more could you ask for? The author did a great job of creating the characters, no character was alike, each one had their own special uniqueness. This book is a wonderful adventure, a magical ride. This is a book that will attract different types of audiences, fantasy lovers, paranormal fans and Young Adult readers. This is only the beginning of The Study Train, I can't wait to read what the author has in store for Ethan and the other students aboard the train in the next installment. This is one of those books that you just hope will come to the big screen! You can't pass this book up, it is definitely a book that I will re-read again and again. It has earned a place on my favourites list.
