Illustrated by: Helen Luzgin Reading level: Ages 9-12 Paperback: 40 pages Publisher: Trafford Publishing Published: July 1, 2010 ISBN: 978-1426931857 About The Book: The story is about Zalvator, a black panther, that gathers the other animals in the rain forest together to fight for and protect their land when they are at risk of having it destroyed by man. Only something unexpected happens and bring together a whole knew appreciation for the animals and mankind. My Thoughts: This story was so well written. First off, the text was so visual, as I was reading it I could imagine this beautiful rain forest, this magical place, the illustrations just made it more clear. They were so bold and colourful. The message is strong in this book, it teaches acceptance, good will and unity. Zalvator the black panther was a wonderful character, he is strong, protective and territorial but he also is tender, forgiving and loyal. Every kid should read this book, it has the action to stimulate the mind but it has the story that teaches a very valuable lesson, forgiveness and graitude. A wonderful story that everyone should read.
